When Dr. Hodes first started this practice over 35 years ago, he was a “traveling vet”. Spending his days riding around in a van making house calls. Even though today we’ve grown into a full-service animal hospital, we’ve also continued the Dr. Hodes’ tradition of making house calls.
Hodes Veterinary Group handles emergencies, less urgent medical, surgical, and dental cases, and wellness visits. We offer a comfortable, friendly environment where both you and your four-legged family member can relax while waiting for your appointment. But don’t be surprised by some of the pet patients you may find sitting next to you. We’re a mixed animal practice, so we treat a wide variety of animals — both small and large.

New Pet Visit
For your first visit, you’ll need to fill out the new patient form prior to your appointment and bring it with you. If you’ve been using another veterinarian’s service, please contact them a few weeks before your appointment and ask them to transfer your pet's records to us to make sure we have them prior to your arrival.
Spay / Neuter
Neutering your pet is not only important for population control, but will help to prevent medical conditions that can become somewhat costly as your dog or cat ages. Because of the importance of this surgical procedure, we do our best to make it affordable to ALL pet owners. We also participate in the New Jersey State Neuter/Spay Program. This can be of great benefit to you if you adopted your pet from a participating shelter/pound or are receiving public assistance.
We are not an in and out facility. Instead, dogs are walked 3-4 times a day. To ensure accommodations, please arrange your pets stay with us at least one week in advance. Of course, if it’s an emergency, we’ll do our best to make room.
Our pharmacy carries a wide range of medications, prescription food supplements, and prescription dog and cat food. We also stock several brands of flea and tick control, heartworm preventive and internal parasites treatment. When you obtain your pet’s medication from us, we’ll make sure that your pet is being dosed with the correct amount and will go over any potential side effects or concerns.
Having our own in-house lab saves valuable time in testing and diagnosing our pet patients. Whether they’re here for a wellness visit or emergency care, having a modern lab resource on-site helps provide immediate answers to any health question.
